Its been such a long week. Sian. Pada diri diri sendiri la especially. Started the week with stomachache. Dah tak boleh tahan sangat sampai minta husben amek EL. Husben nengok wife dia sian kena hantar n amek anak, husben pun EL la. 

Then Selasa, Rabu, Khamis n hari ni baru Jumaat. Kenapa lama sangat yer? Kata husben, Allah amat pemurah sebab bagi kita settlekan banyak perkara...

Tapi masih banyak juga yang tak settle. Reading half2, supervisor belum jumpa, topik pun tak ada lagi... sedihnya :( Few weeks lagi konvo pula...

Jarang2 masakkan hubby his fav soup ni, setahun adalah few times aje sebab nak merebus pun amek masa 4 jam kan, bila tiba mood rajin ble la layan sup ni. Biarpun remeh, tapi hasilnyer sgtla puas hati, boleh la say good bye kat mamak for few weeks agaknyer heheh... 

Since nak berjauhan ngan hubby, masakkanla sup ni kat dia, biar teringat2 n terindu2 kat isteri and anak2 dia kat umah ni (jgn terindu mamak sudah ler) :p

But this time umi sgtla amazed with 2 budak kecik kat umah ni, memela depa ni dah besar n dah pandai makan kot. Budak 2 org kat umah ni sgt2 enjoy the soup. Tak cukup makan ngan nasi, esoknyer siap cecah ngan french bread lagi buat breakfast. Alhamdulillah... :)

For those yang nak cuba, this recipe nampak aje panjang, sebenarnyar simple aje, main campak2 n tumis aje. Tak susah pun, kalau famili besar boleh la ikot resepi ni, Kalau famili tak ramai mcm mine, elokla dikurangkan half aje utk elak byk sgt leftover, nanti ada pula yg terpaksa jadik majlis perbandaran menghabiskan the leftover :p

Sup Tulang Rawan Ala Mamak 

Bahan A
1kg tulang rawan
1 inci halia diketuk
5 ulas bawang putih diketuk
10 cawan air

Bahan B (Kisar)
2-3 biji bawang besar (xtra besar)
1 inci halia
8 ulas bawang putih
3 sudu besar rempah kurma

Bahan C (Tumis)
2 batang serai diketuk
Bunga Lawang + Kayu Manis + Buah Pelaga
Minyak masak

Bahan D (Terpulang pada individu)
2 batang karot dipotong kiub
2 batang celery dihiris kecik
2 biji kentang dipotong
2 biji tomato – sebiji dibelah 8
Garam dan black pepper secukup rase

Bahan E (Hias)
Daun sup/bawang or ketumbar

Cara2

Rebus bahan A dalam periuk yang besar selama 4 jam or hingga daging lembut dengan api yang sederhana, tambahkan air bila air berkurangan. Kisar Bahan B. Tumiskan bahan C hingga naik bau. Masukkan bahan kisar tadi. Tumis hingga terbit minyak.
Masukkan bahan tumisan ke dalam periuk berisi rebusan tulang tadi.
Masukkan bahan D KECUALI tomato. Masak hingga lembut.
Perasakan dengan garam n black pepper.Masukkan tomato.
Renehkan selama 10 minit.
Tutup api dan hiaskan dengan bawang sup/bawang atau daun ketumbar.

♥... Happy 8th Birthday Haziq ...♥

Sekejap aje masa berlalu. Hari ni haziq genap 8 tahun. Terkenang waktu mengandungkan Haziq dulu, mcm2 complication ada. GDM n Urine infection, yang membuatkan umi terpaksa amek jab 4 kali sehari. 2 kali admitted hospital. Alhamdulillah, bila nak lahirkan Haziq senang la pula. Sakit pun tak lama kalau nak compare dengan orang lain yang bersalin anak pertama. 4 jam umi sakit, dan setiap saat umi itu umi gigit kain napkin, mengalir2 air mata sambil membaca 3 qul berkali2. Tepat pukul 12tgh malam masuk labor room dan tepat 12.30 pagi, lahir la anak umi ke dunia.

Tapi menjaga Haziq dalam pantang sangat menguji fizikal dan minda. Haziq colic yang teramat teruk, menangis dari tgh malam sampai ke pagi. Hampir setiap hari.... dah nak subuh barulah umi dan babah dapat tidur kerana menjaga Haziq. Alhamdulillah lepas pantang Haziq sihat dan alhamdulillah sampai sekarang Haziq jarang sangat sakit atau demam.

Suke teleng pale masa kecik2 dulu tau...

I'm still in school. Normally I have to stay late on Friday since dad is going for Jumaat prayer. Rugi sebenarnya because everybody r going back early as the school ended at 12.30, so daripada meroyan tak tentu pasal, I might as well put some update here.

The main reason why I didn't update the blog because I am totally drained! Physically n Mentally drained :p I normally arrived home around 3pm and usually collapse for at least 2 hours. Husband and son told me that I'm not snoring anymore. Must be of the tiredness or my respiratory r getting better from the grapefruit drink? I am thankful for any of the reasons :)

Yesterday, we had Kompang Competition in SMKSA. It was nice to see all the participants from all over Klang gathered in our school. We were the host so most of classes been released to ensure the fluency of the event. We won the 2nd place!

Among all, I was happy to be part of the committees. I was in charge of the registration, program booklet as well as to collect signature from VIP. Haha... itupun nak citer :p anyways, I learned few things about protocols during the event. okla tu... tambah pengetahuan :)

So as usual, as I got back home, 1st thing yg I cari after shower was the comforter, let haiyi play with the computer and in 2 minutes, I can't hear a thing at all! Muahahaha...

Mode: Susahnyer jadi GURU sekarang, totally... it is a different world!

Praktikum Bermula

Wah! dah hampir 3 minggu blog ni tak ber update rupanya. Meme sangat2 tak sempat nak update blog, menjengah pun tak sempat. My life as trainee teacher sgt2 la disasternya, tatau la if I'm the only one yang rasa cam gini, but meme sangat2la hecticnya kehidupanku!

Walaupun excited masuk school after 18 years meninggalkan zaman persekolahan, went through saat2 blur yang amat sgt on the 1st week of practicum. Blur nak mingle with the teacher, although semua cikgu2 sgt2 la friendly n helpful, tapi ada juga la seorang dua yang sesat n tak menunjukkan sifat2 guru langsung. 1st day lagi dah dapat timetable n all, masuk kelas n observed their former teacher ... on thursday n friday dah masuk kelas n buat ice breaking n ajar la sikit2. No honeymoon2 week walaupun it was supposed to be an orientation week for me. Tak kisah la tu... Yg paling best, 1st saturday tu ada mesyuarat PIBG n kenala dtg sebab I kena tolong on registration part.

2nd week pulak dah berjuang mati2an dalam kelas as I got 2 last class. Sedey oiii, last class means last in everything, especially ability to use their cognitive + attitude yg tersangatla lownyer. Quite frustrated juga memula tu, but I made a promise, I want to make this as a challenge for me, the least I must do is to increase their interest in study n make them focus in class. Meme sgt2 mencabar! Allah saje yang tahu. Another saturday hangus, this time for merentas desa la pulak... huhu.. 2 straight saturdays dirampas dari genggaman! sgt2 awesome!!

3rd week, tak kurang hebatnyer, jadi guru bertugas pula, ambil markah untuk keceriaan kelas for the whole form 4 classes. Ingatkan during the test ni, banyakla benda boleh di usahakan, especially my report book yg tak lengkap2 lagi tu. Rupanya2 hujan ditengahari... penuh dengan kelas relief pula! wah2! 3rd week ni meme la mcm nak pgsan, dalam masa yg sama bulan pula mengambang n hubby ke KK. Arghhh!!! Allah aje yang tau macamana I survived those days.

After went through so many things in school, I dapatla juga hadiah... suke sgt ngan hadiah2 tu... :) antaranya, sakit pinggang yang amat mcm nak putus n kebas2 kat tulang belakang especially masa berdiri, mcm nak slip disc pula rase :(

n nah!! Sabtu lepas disambut ngan senyum lebar yang teramat,
1st sebab tau hari ni tak perlu bangun awal ke sekolah.
2nd sebab menyambut hubby balik walaupun dah malam
3rd sempat makan malam berempat!

My 1st Monday on the holiday, so far so good... masak nasi goreng aje for the kids, lunch nanti panaskan aje my laksa johor n malam baru nak masak best cikit tuk hubby :)

Juice, Apple, Nuts n Raisins

Dah 2 hari been skipping my morning breakfast n lunches. Sempat bawa carrot n grapefruit juice, 1 apple, nuts n raisins aje ke school. Malu argh nak bawa salad bagai, kang org kate weird pulak bawa all the greenish pergi sekolah. So terpaksala tahan lapar, if sampai umah kul 3, begitu begini, around 4pm baru dapat makan.

Normally I had tahu sumbat aje. Meme dah tak sempat nak prepare ikan or ayam bagai. 2 ketul pulak tu, maklum la orang lapar turun naik tangga kat sekolah tu :p


Lepas ni jarangla I dapat mengupdate blog mcm selalu sebab being a trainee teacher ni meme la busy n messy sgt2. Mcm2 nak diplan dan dibuat for faculty, for the school n for the students. I have not plan anything for Thursday n Friday classes. Thinking of doing some activities n sees how far the students really understood this subject 1st 1 guess.

Weekend yg Suspen!

Suspen besok dah nak g praktikum :) Nebes sgt2 rase, macam la x pernah ajar kat school. Isk... semakin nebes sebab mcm2 nak kena buat n prepare, dalam masa yg sama maintain normal routine jugak...

Semalam ke Popular Bookstore, Haziq n Haiyi enjoy sgt membeli n membelah... tengok ajela antara barang2 yg diaorang borong, belum lagi dengan stationary bagai :)

Lunch pulak bawa the boys makan kat Jaring aje. Balik da petang, masak spaghetti cincai aje. So today bekfes baru la buat proper sikit, boleh la isi perut depa sampai noon.

Baked beans served with scrambled eggs, wholemeal bread, sauteed veggies, cucumber n tomatoes.

Tghari ni masak nasi ayam aje, tapi ayam tu wat spesel sikit, baked with rempah2 gitu, so boleh la I join makan sekali ^.^. Malam kang pula mcm nak goreng aje nasi ayam yg balance tadi into nasi goreng...

Notty Tummy!

Hari ni perut sgt2 la notty! Notty sebab makan heavy sgta hari ni, akibat tofu yg tersimpan dalam fridge 4 hari tu dah berlendir, so menu bertukar la hari ni!

Since yg ada kat kitchen tu is the sweet potato yg tak diusik2, lebih baik buat something, if not busuk pula jadi macam tofu tadi kan... Dengan niat tak nak membazir, menu hari ni sweet potatoes la for lunch n dinner yer.

For breakfast I had carrot n grape fruit juice + an apple. Then around 10am, perut ni mengada2 lapar, so I baked about 5 falafel. Lunch ingat nak buat tahu sumbat aje, so since the tofu dah tak elok, I made Baked Sweet Potatoes with Coriander, Parsley n Spicy Dressing.

I used 2 small potatoes n 1 medium sweet potatoes, chunked. Sprinkle them with salt, pepper n drizzle olive oil generously. Bake for 30 minutes or until potatoes r tender.

Sementara tu boleh la siapkan dressing. I wanted something spicy today, so I just used 1 tspn of sweet paprika n 1 tspn of chilli powder + 3 tbpn of grapefruit juice, of course u can substitute with lemon or lime juice. Give it a good stir n set aside.

Once ur potatoes dah tender, tunggu suam, n boleh la u guys chopped coriander n parsley. Combine potatoes, ur green leafy n dressing, serves while hot!


Masa I chunked the sweet potatoes tu dtg la ilham nak buat soup ala2 kat hotel gitu. So here we go! I sauteed 2 medium onions, 5 cloves of garlic, 1 stick celery, 1 tomatoes + olive oil until tender. The I add on 1 1/2 - 2 cups of water with 3 medium sweet potatoes n 1 carrot, chunked n boil them until tender.

While waiting, I put 1 tomato n 1 bell green bell pepper (sebab I tak ader yg merah) drizzled with olive oil into the oven. Baked at 200°c for about 30-45mins.

Once the soup is done, add 1 tspn sweet paprika n 2 tspn chilli powder (klu tak suka hot, sila kurangkan yer), generous white n black pepper, salt to taste. I also add juice from 1/4 of grape fruit, (klu tak der, ganti la dgn lemon or lime yer). Then I let the soup simmer for 10 minutes. Once cooked, I biar sup tu suam2 kuku, before I pureed them in food processor.


Lepas dah pureed for about 3-5 minutes or until smooth, I transferred back into the pot n let simmer for another 3-5 mins. Served with baked pepper n tomato tadi :) Alhamdulillah kenyang!


Now I'm thinking to recycle the leftover soup as spaghetti sauce tomorrow but haiyi ask for roti john n haziq wants to bring tuna sandwich, so the leftover soup masuk fridge aje la dulu yer :) Now, reheating the soup for hubby
's late nite snacks ♥.

Baked Sardine with Apple, Carrot, Grape Fruit Slaw

This recipe (my lunch, yesterday) calls for trout or salmon acli, but yg ader dalam fridge I is only sardine :p, sardine pun sardine la yer, yg penting sardine ni is the richest source of omega 3.

Using parchment paper, I put 2 sardines with ginger, garlic n grapefruit, sliced (I recommend u guys to use orange or lemon instead of grapefruit). Drizzle with olive oil, black pepper n salt to taste. Fold the parchment paper and baked for 20 minutes at 200°c.

While waiting for the fish, I prepared the slaw made from apple, carrot n grape fruit (again please use orange since the grapefruit taste bitter). I used 1 apple, julienned +half carrot, julienned + 1/4 grape fruit, julienned + grapefruit juice + black pepper to taste.

I sebenarnya nak habiskan stock grape fruit in my kitchen, so I just trial n error aje la in my diet. Tapikan, ada study that told if we consume half of grape juice b4 every meals, it will help to speed up our fat loss. Ade juga yg I bace from the internet, those yg amalkan a cup of grape fruit juice in their breakfast everyday flatten their tummy days by days... menarik kan? tapi... ya Allah masam n pahit buah ni!

Day 19

Alhamdulillah... it's been day 19 today and I have lost 8 kg. I haven't started my cardio thus I guess the weight won't go down so fast. I try to eat healthy as much as I can and still omit sugar, wheat n rice in my diet. Salt tu kadang kala terbabas la juga :p

Today's breakfast I had green juice and watermelon. That would be my typical breakfast menu for time being. Now my stomach starting to growl rock n roll :p, asking for some solid food! Yesterday, I tried to find Quinoa but the price was so expensive, 500gm for rm19, wow! bankrupt la kalau beli. I guess today I just cook veggie soup with some tofu again, boring stuff but insyaAllah will satisfy my stomach.

This is my 12 leaf salad with orange wedges and orange dressing. I bought this salad for rm8 which is quite expensive. But it can be used up to 5-6 servings if u combine with other things such as cucumber, tomatoes, celery n carrot. For the 1st time I tasted different salad leaf n wild rocket tasted the worst! the taste is so rich n peppery! I guess I must really teach my lidah to those leafy herbs :)

This morning, hubby had himself carrot and grape fruit juice, but that was just before he ate 1 roti bom, 1 lempeng kelapa with fish curry and horlics hahah. I sometimes juice some red apples for the kids too and force them to drink the juice before their breakfast.

sekarang ni I ada banyak sgt stock grape fruit in my kitchen. I bought 8 grape fruit for rm10 je. Besar2 pula tu, meme puas hati. When I was in giant yesterday, i saw they sell 1 grape fruit for rm3. Huh! so lucky that mine jatuh rm1.25 only sebiji.

But when stock banyak sgt, dah la tatau nak buat apa with the fruit. Sebab I macam tak boleh handle the sour n bitter of the that grape fruit. Nampak gaye buat juice aje la for the time being :) Meh la share recipes, for those yg tahu apa nak buat with those fruit yer!

Chicken Kabsa n Shirazi Salad

Last week I made spicy morrocan rice which is very spicy sampai meletup2 dalam mulut, but dem, I like those spices cause it made me feel very warm inside. Yer la since I have been eating veggie n fruits aje for the rest 2 weeks kan..

Pastu I masak beef pilaf n beef tagine pulak the next day since the marrocan spice ader byk lagi. All turned out very well especially the beef tagine. Yg kureng nasi je, quite bland that time sebab dah lama tak pakai garam, so even rasa sedikit garam, I dah rasa salty, after the rice is cooked, tawar sikit but still sedap accompanied with the beef tagine.

This week, I made nasi kabsa pula, a mild version of nasi arab. I can see the boys really enjoy nasi kabsa compare to morrocan rice which was very rich in taste n the n nasi pilaf daging that I made before. So here is the recipe as requested by some relatives n friends :)


My version of Chicken Kabsa
5 pot rice
2 carrots
1 box raisins
1 cup chickpea

1 whole chicken
1 tbsp kabsa spice
Salt to taste
(marinate them for at least 1 hour)

2 big onions
5 cloves garlic
1 cinnamon stick
1 star anise
5 cardamom seeds
3 big tomatoes chopped
1 tbsp kabsa spice
Water

Sautee the onions, garlic, cinnamon stick, star anise n cardamom seeds for 2-3 mins. Add chopped tomatoes and stir for until tomatoes soft. Add kabsa spice and stir again. Now u can add the chicken and cook for 8 minutes. Add chickpea n water just enough to cover the chicken, salt to taste. Cover and simmer until the chicken is cooked.

After chicken is cooked, add rice, carrot, raisins and salt to taste. Stir well for a while just to ensure rice, carrot and raisins are well mix with the chicken gravy. Bring to boil, then reduce heat and cook until the rice is tender and done.

Kabsa Spice
2 part coriander seeds
2 part cardamon seeds
1 part of cumin seeds
1 part of fennel seeds
1 part of black peppercorn
1 part of cloves flower
(sangai hingga naik bau)

1 part of turmeric powder
1 part of chilli powder
1 part of ground ginger

Blend all the spices together to get make them into powder.

Shirazi Salad
2 japanese cucumber chopped
2 tomatoes chopped
2 onios chopped
Bunch of coriander chopped
½ lime juice to drizzle
Black pepper to taste

Combine all the above and keep in fridge and serves cold

Tara!! Da siap nasi n salad, sila la ambil pinggan n jemput makan semua :)

Vinaigrette

I am so happy n feel so blessed when many friends n relatives are trying to live n eat healthily now. But most of them complaint that they can't eat salad the way I do. When I asked them, what they actually used for dressing, most of them eating their salad just like that. That's why their salad taste bland. So here I am, going to share with u guys out there, basic but diff vinaigrette that I use when I make my salad. Believe me, they'll taste great! Drizzle vinaigrette to salad just before u want to eat them is the best!

My recipes doesn't have salt n sugar because I like their natural taste, feel free to add them :)



Apple Vinaigrette
(serves 3-5, depends how much u guys drizzles)

Juice from 1 big red apple
1 tspn of extra virgin olive oil
splash of mustard
splash of black pepper to taste
(put all ingredients in a bottle n shake well)
Serves cold!

Tomato Vinaigrette
Juice from 1 tomato
1 tspn of extra virgin olive oil
splash of mustard
splash of black pepper

Orange Vinaigrette
Juice from 1 tomato
1 tspn of extra virgin olive oil
splash of mustard
splash of black pepper

Lime/Lemon Vinaigrette
Juice from 1 lime
splash of mustard
1 tspn of honey
1 clove garlic - minced
black pepper to taste

Veggie Beef Pilaf n Beef Tagine

Beef Pilaf ni simple aje masak dia, as I main hentam masukkan whatever bahan yg I nak :p

4 pot beras
air secukupnyer
250gm daging lembut yg dihiris nipis

1 biji karot dipotong dadu
1 cwn kacang kuda
1 batang jagung di sagat isinya
1-2 biji cili hijau dihiris

Bahan tumis
1 biji bawang besar dimayang
3 biji bawang putih dimayang
1 batang celery
1 sudu rempah morroco
3 rempah sekawan (lawang, pegaga n kulit kayu manis)

2 biji tomato dipotong dadu

Cara memasak nasi

panaskan minyak dengan sedikit minyak sapi
masukkan bahan tumis n masak hingga naik bau
masukkan tomato n kacau lagi
masukkan pula daging n kacau sebenar
masukkan rempah morroco dan kacau lagi sehingga rempah n daging sebati
masukkan karot, kacang kuda n isi jagung dan kacau
kemudian boleh la masukkan beras dan kaup balikkan dengan daging n sayur2 tadi
masukkan hirisan cili hijau
tambahkan air dan perasakan dengan garam n black pepper
masak sehingga nasi masak

Beef tagine ni pula I made in a pot aje, kes belum ada tagine di dapur ku ini, nanti2la kita cari tagine ni yer, belum tau lagi if kat Msia ni mana nak beli encik tagine yg sangat awesome!

500gm daging + tulang
2 sudu besar rempah morocco
sedikit garam
(semua bahan ini diperap semalaman)

Bahan Tumis
2 biji bawang besar dimayang halus
5 biji bawang putih dimayang halus
3 rempah sekawan (pelaga, lawang n kulit kayu manis)

3 biji tomato dipotong dadu
1 sudu kecil ground ginger
2 sudu besar paprika

3 cwn air

10 keping dried appricot
1 cwn kacang kuda

Seperti masakan morocco yg lain, easy peasy je masak beef tagine ni, kalau ader tagine musti bertambah kick kot!

Panaskan sedikit minyak
brownkan daging yg diperap terlebih dahulu (8-10 minit)
masukkan bahan tumis kaup balikkan hingga layu n wangi
apabila bawang layu, masukkan tomato
tumiskan lagi n masukkan pula ground ginger n serbuk paprika
tunis lagi hingga bahan sebati
masukkan air, aprikot yang di belah 4 dan kacang kuda
perasakan dengan garam n black pepper
renehkan selama 2 - 3 jam dengan api yg perlahan dan sehingga kuah pekat
bila kuah dah pekat, I add on some potatoes n masak lagi hingga kentang empuk
serves with some fresh coriander

Hohoh... da 2 weeks saya mengamalkan cara hidup shat, makan cara yang shat, alhamdulillah... semuanya tak seteruk week 1 raw diet tu. Now, pun dah start bykkan protein dr fishes, nuts n lentils. Da pandai makan falafel bagai :).

But I still cook for hubby n kids, tak kan diaorg nak diet sekali kan, tu yg kadang kala tergelincir sana sini bila merasa time masak tu hehe. So garam meme dah masuk dalam badan sikit, compare ngan week 1 meme tak ambil langsung. But sugar, I still belum touch lagi walaupun I really2 missing my morning coffee :(

So semalam I made Beef Pilaf n Beef Tagine. Beef Tagine tu sedap sgt2, I asek meratah chickpea, sebab utama masukkan chickpea so that I can enjoy the food too, haha, ngelat! Tapi my nasi kureng garam la pula, dah tak pandai nak bajet pula, masa masak tu rasa dah cukup masin, bila serves kureng la pula, nasib baik beef tagine tu meme dah cukup rasa, so kira still sedap la.

Beef Tagine with Apricot n Chickpea

Last nite my boys spend a nite @ mum's place, so kat umah tinggal berdua aje ngan hubby. This morning, we had late breakfast, brunch terus actually, so I just reheat je nasi pilaf with the beef tagine n I made lempeng for hubby. 3 Keping dia makan cecah with beef tagine that I perangatkan :)

So, today I teringin nak makan falafel lagi, so I blend all the balance chickpea n I added on some corn. This time I masukkan dhal powder ckit, so senang dia nak combine nanti.


I masak atas kuali jer rini, drizzle ckit olive oil sebab mcm lama sgt nak tgu bake dalam oven, kes lapar la sebenarnya huhu :p Bila dah siap tu I just makan with salad n my leftover green chillies, tomato n coriander sauce.

Kenyang sgt2... makan around 11.30, dah petang around 6 baru terasa lapar. N dinner, I had a bowl of tomyam soup pulak tadi :)

Sib baik esok last cuti, if not keje I asek masak sedap2 n merasa all the food, which is not good for me, takot my appetite for dead food come back. So bila hubby g keje n kids g school nanti, at least I will stay on salad n fruits aje.
